CD Menu is a control panel/extension which allows you to control your audio CDs without that tiresome switching between applications. CD Menu is accessible at almost any time (even from most modal dialogs).
To be able to run CD Menu, you must have a computer with Color Quickdraw. This means that it will not work on a Macintosh Plus, SE, Classic, Mac Portable or PowerBook 100. System 7.0 or later is required. CD Menu is shareware which means that you are required to pay me a fee of $10 (70 Swedish kronor) if you use it regularly.
User's Guide
This program is a control panel which must be put in the Control Panels folder in the System Folder in order to work. Having done this, restart you computer. If you haven't changed the settings in the control panel window, you will now see a small icon in the menu bar next to the application and balloon help menus:

Insert an audio CD into your CD drive and click on this icon. If you didn't release the mouse button right away, a small window with 9 buttons will appear:

7 of these control the normal operation of the CD player and won't need any further explanation. The two buttons in the lower right corner beside the speaker picture control the volume. When you drag the mouse across a button it will be "pushed" and if you release it while still in the pushed state, the command associated with the button will be executed. If you don't want anything to happen, just drag the mouse outside the window and release the mouse button. This applies to all buttons except those performing fast-forward or fast-reverse playback and the volume buttons. If you drag the mouse to one of the fast play buttons, the disc will start to play the disc at a faster rate until you release the mouse button or drag the mouse outside the button. When you drag the mouse to one of the volume control buttons, you will see the small bar above the buttons change along with the volume as long as the cursor is pointing at any of these buttons.
If you double-click the CD Menu icon in the Finder, you will see a window with two check boxes and three buttons:

The controls are:
Ñ Auto Play - if you want the CD to start playing at once when you insert it into the drive, this box should be checked.
Ñ Show icon at startup - this should be checked if you want the CD Menu icon to be displayed during startup.
Ñ The "About╔" button brings up a dialog box with some information about the program.
Ñ The ╥Menu Options╔╙ button gives you a dialog where you can change the ways in which CD Menu should be accessed:

The four radio buttons in the upper corner of the desktop picture tell you in which corner you should click to activate CD Menu, if the ╥Enable clicks in corners of menu bar╙ is checked. The checkbox ╥Show CD symbol in menu bar╙ indicates whether you want a small box with the word ╥CD╙ to be displayed in the ╥hot corner╙.
On the right side of the dialog there are check boxes indicating what keys should be pressed when clicking in the menu bar in order to bring up the CD control window. These buttons are dimmed if the ╥Enable menu keys╙ control is unchecked. When you are finished, press the ╥OK╙ button if you want to save the settings, otherwise click the ╥Cancel╙ button.
Ñ Finally, the ╥Hot Keys╔╙ button displays a dialog from where you can reconfigure the player hot keys:

The ╥Enable hot keys╙ check box should be checked if you want to be able to control the CD player by pressing certain key combinations. Below it are five fields that tell you what keys need to be pressed in order to access a specific CD player function. To reconfigure a hot key, click the ╥Choose╔╙ button in the field for the desired function. You will get a new dialog box telling you to press a new key combination for the chosen CD function. When you are finished, click ╥OK╙ to accept the changes or ╥Cancel╙ to dismiss the dialog without saving any changes you might have made.
The control panel supports balloon help, so if you are tired of having to open this document every time for guidance, use balloon help!

You are free to distribute it to your friends and other people provided the document you are now reading accompanies the program. You may also distribute CD Menu via online services such as CompuServe, AOL, Internet ftp sites, eWorld, local BBSes, etc without my permission. If you want to include CD Menu in software compilations on disk or CD-ROM you must have my written permission (this is mainly to ensure that an old version isn╒t distributed if there╒s a later one available).
